The Shur Line Paint Edger is a pad-style paint edger with plastic wheels designed to reduce friction as the paint edger runs along the wall surfaces. Low in price, the Shur Line is the ubiquitous paint edger found at practically all hardware and even department stores.

Paint pads give good coverage and a smooth, even finish. They are much cleaner to use than rollers, as there is no spray. They do need reloading more often than rollers, but they still do the job quickly. Because of the smooth finish they give, paint pads are particularly good for ceilings.

Brushes are ideal for small areas, or areas where more precision painting is needed. Brushes are ideal for trim, corners, and edges. Paint the Trim First, Then the Ceilings and Walls

• Shur-line Pro Paint Edger Product Review Damn, this new redesign with the notched edges is going to be a problem for the way I use the pads. You can apply the material quickly and strike it off at the end to remove any visible application lines or streaks – all of which leaves a very even and smooth finish.

• The differences are that the Pro Premium has a quick pad release button on the handle for true one finger removal. The rubber edged handle will rotate a full 180 degrees for better ergonomics. But, who knows, I haven’t tried the Pro Premium, so I can’t say for sure if I’d like it better.

• Removing the pad is a little easier with the release tabs on either side. (Versus sliding the pad off the bottom of the edger.) To replace the pad, simply snap it back in place and you are ready to roll.

The Accubrush edge-painting tool is one of the best we've tried. It makes cutting-in quick and easy. With just a little practice, you can paint perfectly straight lines along ceilings and moldings. You'll still have to finish some areas with a brush, though, since the tool can't paint right up to adjacent edges.Apr 21, 2021

• After the paint is loaded, flip the handle down and the wheels and edge guards are ready to edge. Simply run the edger wheels along moulding, window and door casing, and baseboards to paint a smooth, clean straight line. Another change I noticed was the cut out notches on the pad to further keep the paint away from the rollers and edge guards.
